The WALIS Office has been running WALIS Forums since 1984.  These events have developed into the premier spatial industry events in Australia.  You can see the last few WALIS Forums here.

As the spatial industry intersects with digital earth modelling, it was a natural fit with ISDE so the WALIS Office decided to bid for the right to host the next ISDE Symposium (#7) in conjunction with the next WALIS Forum 2011.

The WALIS Office quickly secured the right to be the sole Australian bid and travelled to the ISDE6 in Bejing China to present the case in an Olympic style bid process.
